Bus driver arrested for DUI blames erratic driving on bad doughnut

There seems to be a hole in this story!

A Texas school bus driver charged with driving while intoxicated blamed her erratic driving on a doughnut that made her “sick,” according to news station KTRK.

Bus driver Linda Godejohn, 55, denied that she was drunk when she was pulled over around 2 p.m. Thursday in Harris County while transporting students from Yes Prep School.

“I wasn’t [drunk]. My stomach was just hurting so bad that my wheel fell off the curve,” she told reporters after leaving jail Friday.

Godejohn explained the day was like any other — except for the bad doughnut she ate from the school, KTRK reported.

“They’ve been riding all year long. Nothing has changed,” Godejohn said. “Except I got something from the school to eat. It had made me sick.”

Police said Godejohn failed field sobriety tests “miserably” after callers called 911 to report her driving.

But the bus driver claimed the sobriety tests were “hard” and insisted she hadn’t consumed any alcohol.

“They keep saying that I have been drinking,” Godejohn said. “I don’t drink. I haven’t had a drink in years.”

She was booked on misdemeanor charges for driving while intoxicated and released Friday on $100 bond, according to court records. Her next court date is June 10.

First Student Bus Company — which contracts drivers for Yes Prep — said Godejohn was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation, according to KTRK.

Godejohn couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
