Steve Pearce likely will return to the Red Sox lineup sooner than expected.
The first baseman began the season on the injured list after suffering a calf injury during a spring game on March 17. Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday on WEEI’s OMF that he expects Pearce to come off the IL on Thursday and potentially play vs. the Athletics.
Steve Pearce is eligible to come off the injured list tomorrow and likely will do so, per Alex Cora on @OMFonWEEI. Pearce’s IL stint was backdated to Mar. 25, so that’s three preseason days and seven games. Previous thought was that he couldn’t return until Arizona.
