Joke’s on who?
ESPN personality Will Cain was agitated Monday from the coverage of an April Fools’ Day joke he claims to have been in on during a taping of ESPN’s “High Noon” show.
Cain appeared to think he was filling in for Bomani Jones on the segment with Pablo Torre, as did the audience. Cain opens the show with some banter with Torre, but before he can get comfortable, Jones — the everyday co-host with Torre — jumped from under the desk and said, “I got you!” on April Fools’ Day.
In the video, Cain looks genuinely confused. He questions Jones until he understands that he was part of the actual joke. Cain slaps Jones’ hand and walks off the set, but whines unhappily to the camera, “Next time you have me on, you jerks won’t have me on as a joke.”
Jones responded, “The next time they have you on is the day I quit.”
Cain did look upset as he exited the frame, and many on Twitter thought it was an actual prank. He claims he wasn’t the victim, but was in on the joke after some media outlets covered the episode.
“Help me out here guys. I’m beginning to think sports media is a little biased and WANTED this to be true. That couldn’t be, right?” Cain said in another tweet.
Either way, it was funny.
