It’s time to “begin the journey of healing.”
That’s what Reverend Jeff Rock told mourners gathered for a vigil for the victims of Bruce McArthur.
It was at a Toronto church Sunday evening.
Rock’s sermon comes just days after the serial killer was sentenced to life in jail with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Many feel his sentence isn’t enough for the killings of eight men, all with ties to the city’s gay village.
The victims, Andrew Kinsman, Selim Esen, Majeed Kayhan, Dean Lisowick, Soroush Mahmudi, Skandaraj Navaratnam, Abdulbasir Faizi and Kirushna Kanagaratnam, were all killed between 2010 and 2017.
Rock said McArthur’s crimes were done “out of hate,” and “we will not let hate win.”
The self-employed landscaper will be 91-years-old before he’s eligible to apply for any form of release.
