Married at First Sight’s Elizabeth has been through a lot in the first few episodes of this season, but one of the biggest talking points has been her makeup.
When the blonde bride was first introduced on the hen’s night a few fans commented on her look, but it wasn’t until the day of her wedding that people really went in on Twitter.
The situation wasn’t helped by Elizabeth’s “demanding” attitude on the day, insisting she have bold eyes and lips against the advice of her makeup artist.
Now, she’s spoken about her signature full-glam look – and the public’s reaction to it – with Shelly Horton in the latest episode of the Talking Married podcast.
“Tell me what to do and I’ll do the opposite,” Elizabeth laughed of the fans begging her to go natural.
“It’s like a secret joke with myself too. Does that sound crazy? I’m a little crazy.”
She stuck to her intense look throughout most of her first appearances on the show, but when husband Sam when AWOL fans were treated to a far more natural version of Elizabeth sans extensions, wings and overdrawn lips.
“Elizabeth actually looks like a different person without the makeup and extensions,” one MAFS fan tweeted.
“She should just leave them out and go for light makeup it would look so much better.”
But that won’t be happening any time soon, as Shelly found out: “Your personality goes, ‘If everyone says to tone it down, I’m going to take it up a notch.’”
“Correct! Correct,” Elizabeth laughs, though her makeup isn’t the only thing she turns up to 11.
“There’s no denying that I’m a little crazy, I’m not denying any of it.”
Given the craziness she’s put up with in the first few days of her marriage to Sam, however, we can’t really blame the girl for going a little round the bend.
He ditched Elizabeth the day before their honeymoon to attend a funeral with his ex, then ignored her messages and later claimed he never got the voicemail she left him while he was gone.
