Busy week of changes at KNBR and 95.7 The Game – The Athletic

 


For the last several months, things have been pretty static at the two major Bay Area sports talk radio stations, and that’s not a reference to signal strength.

Other than adding Bonnie-Jill Laflin to the morning show, where she can barely get a word in edgewise while Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey dominate the conversation, KNBR 680 has seemingly been content to sit tight as its ratings advantage has dwindled to the point where they’ve been finishing behind 95.7 The Game in the genre’s key demographic (men, ages 25-54).

That is starting to change.

On that same night, I caught a few minutes of Kevin Frandsen dismissing the opinions of co-host Drew Hoffar and producer F.P. Santangelo Jr., but perhaps that won’t be happening for much longer. Frandsen will be heading off to call Phillies games in the spring, so who knows what Jeremiah Crowe has brewing for the 7-10 p.m. slot, which isn’t a very important one in the minds of radio…
