PETOSKEY — Alexi Broman of Petoskey is just a step away from hopefully collecting her golden ticket.
Broman, the daughter of Julie Broman and Tom Butcher and granddaughter to Darlene (Broman) and Howard Herriman, the late Cecil G. Broman and adoptive grandmother Maxine Butcher has been invited to audition for the FOX television show “So You Think You Can Dance.”
Broman, who is currently in her second year as a dance major at the University of North Carolina School for the Arts in Winston-Salem, made it through the preliminary round for “So You Think You Can Dance” and will travel to New York on Saturday, Feb. 9, to audition in the production round.
Should she advance past the production round, she would then travel to Los Angeles for the judges round.
Broman began dancing locally in Wilmington, North Carolina, and when she decided she wanted to make a career out of dance she moved to Virginia Beach to train at the Denise Wall Dance Energy.
It was there where she trained with top professionals in the dance industry including Travis Wall, Anthony Morigerato, Will Loftis and Randi and Heffa.
Broman has already been in several locally based television commmericals and two movies including “I Dream of Dance” and “Words on Bathroom Walls.” She also trained in Las Vegas with Tara Foy, the ballet mistress for Cirque de Soleil.
At age 13, Broman had the opportunity to dance with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. She was home-schooled and did competition dance where she earned numerous scholarships and earned several top awards.
