Valentine’s Day 2019: The Best Makeup Look Inspiration From Bollywood Celebrities

No matter what plans you have drawn up for Valentine’s Day 2019, Bollywood’s biggest names have already served the makeup inspiration you need to put your best face on

Valentines Day makeup.

Valentine’s Day gets most people marking the day in some way or another, whether you celebrate it with the special someone in your life, or your single girlfriends. You and your partner could be die-hard romantics who want to make the night special, or you could have that one friend who is dragging you out—whatever the case, we’ve got a makeup look that’ll save you the last-minute freakout and make sure you look your best. We looked to Bollywood celebrities (our favourite source of inspiration) like Alia Bhatt and Priyanka Chopra to zero down on the perfect beauty look for every kind of Valentine’s Day celebration. Read on to know which one’s perfect for you.

If you’re headed to a romantic dinner date

Nobody does rosy, romantic makeup better than Sonam Kapoor Ahuja. The actor is often spotted in blush tones of peaches and pinks and she wears them beautifully each time. The soft look above was created for the actor by ace makeup artist and one of Kapoor Ahuja’s favourites, Namrata Soni, for an event last month. The key features: a velvet-finish foundation like the M.A.C Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation, a rose tint for the eyes and cheeks, a touch of eyeliner, long faux eyelashes like the Huda Beauty Classic Lash in Jacqueline #20 for that dreamy flutter, and a glossy peach lip that completes the look. Try the NYX Professional Makeup Wet Nudes Lip Lingerie Gloss in Spirit for the perfect pout (bonus: it looks great during a candlelit dinner).

For a “casual” night in

Alia Bhatt’s minimal makeup aesthetic is perfect for when you’re spending Valentine’s Day at home, whether that means cooking dinner with your partner while sipping on Merlot or binge-watching your favourite Netflix series. This look, created by Bhatt’s favourite makeup artist Puneet B Saini, won’t take you too long to put together. Start with a tinted moisturiser if you simply want to skip a heavy foundation base. Then, tightline your upper eyelids with a long-wear liner like the Inglot Kohl Pencil, before curling your eyelashes and coating them with volumising mascara. Apply a nude bronzer like the Milani Baked Bronzer in Glow with a light hand to add a hint of warmth and shine on your cheeks, and finish off with a nude lipstick.

For a sundowner with your partner

Every time international celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo works his magic on Deepika Padukone’s face, he creates an unbelievable glow. If you’re rounding off your Valentine’s Day with a sundowner, take inspiration from Padukone’s glowing nude makeup look for your night out. Use a radiant-finish foundation like the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation for your base and accentuate your eyes with a smudged, brown kohl on the upper and lower lash lines. Make your cheekbones pop with the Maybelline Face Studio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter and swipe a velvet matte nude lipstick on your pout.

If you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with a girls’ night out

If you’re heading out with your girl crew this year, go all out and pick a glitter eye and matte lipstick combination like the one Patti Dubroff, one of Priyanka Chopra’s preferred makeup artists, recently created for the actor. For this makeup look, stick with a matte foundation that’ll give you an even tone. Then, dust a nude eyeshadow as a base for your eyelids, top that with PAC Sparkly Distraction Glitter Primer and dab on a glitter of your choice from the Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palette in Bold Glitter. Apply mascara to complete your eye makeup and use a soft pink blush for your cheeks. Pick a matte lipstick that complements your glitter—try a red or fuchsia pink variant—and you’re set for the night.
