Revised, sky-high condo of Atlanta ‘serial entrepreneur’ emerges for $4M in Buckhead

High within Buckhead’s Sovereign condo tower, the longtime home of the Atlanta “serial entrepreneur” who cofounded the largest cookie franchise in the United States is back on the market this week with a fresh face and heftier price tag.

Perched on the 45th floor, the sprawling unit of nearly 4,500 square feet is being pitched as “the most amazing condo on the market in Atlanta”—a listing claim that might be a stretch but isn’t dinged by panoramic views in each direction but west.

It was the longtime home of Michael J. Coles, a business executive and now author, who launched the Great American Cookie Company in the 1970s at Perimeter Mall before taking the helm of Caribou Coffee Company.

Records indicate Coles and his wife, Donna, paid $2.2 million for the property not long after the tower debuted in 2008. It sold for $2.4 million last summer to an LLC called Postell Development, records show.

Other Sovereign units have fetched $2 million in recent months, but this one’s aiming for more than twice that now.

For $4.1 million (plus a considerable $4,151 in monthly HOA fees), a buyer would bag the tower’s largest floorplan, 11-foot ceilings, a bar with views for days, wine “cellar”, and three balconies. New additions include a top-flight kitchen, wide-plank wood flooring, plus electric blinds and built-in audio.

Less impressive is the bedroom count (three) and some tiling and hard surfaces that clearly weren’t part of the refresh. But the style is restrained and smart overall, lending a blank-slate vibe.

A nifty virtual tour of the property has been compiled here.
