An insurance agent in Singapore pretended to be Lord Voldermort to spook and extort clients who cancelled policies they’d bought from him, according to local reports.
Ye Lin Myint, 36, would also send the threatening messages as the Dark Lord to customers who didn’t show up to their appointments, according to The New Paper.
The threats consisted of telling the ex-clients that they’d be targeted if they didn’t transfer bitcoins valued around $6,600 to the sender. The e-mails were signed “Lord Voldemort” and in some instances, “Dr. Bruce Banner” — the Hulk’s alter ego.
The Myanmar native pleaded guilty to five counts of criminal intimidation and eight harassment charges for targeting 33 people — including former clients and their neighbors — with the creepy e-mailed missives in August and September 2017.
On Tuesday, District Judge Marvin Bay sentenced Myint to two years and five months in jail for the stunts, which he said showed a “remarkable degree of planning.”
