PATERSON — A man trying to sell perfume during the early-morning hours on Sunday ended up robbing a Paterson resident who didn’t want to buy anything, police said.
The victim was walking home on Van Houten Street, near Straight Street, at about 5:10 a.m. when the suspect approached asking if he wanted to buy perfume, police said.
After the victim declined the perfume, the suspect then said he had a gun and demanded the man’s possessions, said Sgt. Anthony Lay.
The two men struggled, and the suspect took the victim’s wallet and keys before fleeing, police said.
