With a New Year comes the typical resolutions, including being healthy and getting into shape.
There’s just one problem with that: I hate exercise.
So, I’ve always looked for ways to trick myself into working out by being active in other ways.
As a kid, I did so with softball, volleyball, soccer and basketball teams. As I got older, I embraced golf and bowling — but just for fun.
When I couldn’t find complete lists of where people can play golf or bowl across the Treasure Coast, I pulled together these resources for our community and published them on TCPalm.

Now, I’m hooked on tennis. It’s a great way for both athletes and non-athletes to get moving.
Thanks to the help of the Treasure Coast Sports Commission and local parks and recreation departments, I’ve put together yet another list — this time all the places to play tennis, as well as pickleball, in Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties.
The best part: these locations are free for the public to use. Other places charge small fees or require memberships.
So, bring your friends or the whole family to trick everyone into getting some exercise.
I’ll see you on the court!
