UTC is coming off a season high in points in an 89-82 win over Wofford in which Bouldin scored 26, her best this season, and pulled down a collegiate career-high 12 rebounds. She also played all 40 minutes in the fast-paced game. Williams nearly had her third consecutive double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing nine rebounds, and she and Bouldin have combined to average 40 points in SoCon play. Burns had one of her best games of the season as well, scoring 16 points and dishing out a game-high seven assists.
Furman has ridden the crazy-hot shooting from Taborn to its solid SoCon start. The sophomore has missed just one shot in each of her past three games while totaling 57 points, including a 10-for-11 outing in a 75-70 loss to East Tennessee State University in the last game. The rest of the team in that game, which was ETSU’s first league win this season, was 12-for-49 from the field. Taborn has a torrid 70.4 percent from the field (100-of-142). On the other end, Davidson has made just 30.9 percent of her shots, though she has converted 86 percent of her free throws. The Paladins do most of their damage inside and have shot just 27.7 percent from 3-point range.
Playing two games in three days might be a task for the Mocs, especially if Bouldin has to play extended minutes. The Paladins come in with an extra day of rest. The Mocs should have an edge in the backcourt, however. Furman has committed nearly 60 more turnovers than UTC. Expect Lee and Williams to try to make things a bit more difficult for Taborn.
