R KELLY’S brother claims the disgraced singer used to ask him to get girls who “looked underage” while confirming the star married Aaliyah when she was just 15.
Carey Kelly, who grew up with the troubled star in Chicago, says he has “no regrets” about taking part in docuseries Surviving R. Kelly which details the multiple allegations of sex abuse against the hit maker.
When asked by CBS Chicago if he believes the claims against Kelly are true – Carey cited the singer’s marriage to pop star Aaliyah who was only 15 at the time.
He said: “It don’t get no truer than that.”
Kelly’s 1994 marriage to Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash in 2001, was annulled the following year by her parents.
Carey, who still refers to his brother as Robert, said that he noticed his sibling’s “troubling behaviour” decades ago.
He said Kelly would ask him to “get girls for him at concerts” adding “to me they looked underage.”
He has a problem with control
Carey claims he was repeatedly molested as a child by a family member and believes his superstar brother may have been abused as well.
Asked if R Kelly is a paedophile, his brother said “he can’t say that for sure.”
Carey adds: “I just know that he has a problem with control.
“I love my brother, but he do have a problem. And if anybody out there love him, they should want to see him get help.”
R Kelly strongly denies all the allegations of sex abuse made against him.
To me they looked underage
Carey said he hasn’t spoken to his brother in person since his acquittal on child pornography charges more than ten years ago.
He said he told the R&B singer that “God gave you another chance” when the pair talked on the telephone following the case.
Carey added: “And his arrogance, and people not believing different things that he’s accused of said, ‘God didn’t give me another chance. I gave me another chance. My money gave me another chance.”’
The Sun Online has approached R Kelly’s representatives for comment.
What is Surviving R Kelly about?
The documentary shines a spotlight on allegations of sexual and physical abuse against the R Kelly – claims the R&B singer has strenuously denied.
Made up of six episodes, it features interviews with several women who recount their experiences – all of which Kelly denies.
TMZ has reported that the rapper did not watch the series which sources say he feels is simply part of a vendetta.
What are the R Kelly ‘sex cult’ allegations?
R Kelly has faced previous allegations of sexual misconduct.
The performer was acquitted in 2008 on charges of making child pornography, despite a videotape of an alleged encounter with a 14-year-old girl being shown to prosecutors.
He has denied recent claims he is “holding young women against their will” in a one-man “sex cult”.
Parents have reportedly told BuzzFeed News that the star, real name Robert Kelly, is keeping six young women at his properties in Atlanta and Chicago.
It’s reported they’re only allowed to use mobile phones provided by Kelly, must call him “daddy,” and can only eat, sleep or wash when he lets them.
Kelly also films their sexual encounters, say the reports.
