ST JOHNS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Krista Glover has been sentenced to probation for an attack on her husband, former US Open golf champion Lucas Glover.
Former US Open winner Lucas Glover’s wife has been sentenced to probation for leaving him with cuts after an alleged attack last year.
Krista Glover, 37, faced battery and resisting arrest charges after turning on her husband in Florida last May after he failed to complete the Player’s Championship at Ponte Vedra Beach.
The Daily Mail revealed Krista Glover had avoided a jail sentence, but was given 12 months’ probation, and ordered to complete 25 hours’ community service and submit to substance abuse and mental health evaluations.
Golf World reported last May that a document from the St Johns County Sheriff’s department stated Lucas Glover, 39, was berated by his wife for his poor play (he shot a third-round 78 for a MDF – made cut, did not finish).
In the report Lucas Glover told deputies “when he plays a bad round of golf, Krista proceeds to start an altercation with him and telling him how he is a loser and a p…y, how he needs to fire everyone, and how he’d better win or her and the kids would leave him and he would never see the kids again.”
Police noted multiple lacerations to both Lucas and his 62-year-old mother, who had blood on her shirt and said she was hit in the chest. Krista told police she had been attacked by Lucas’ mother Hersey Glover, but police reported no visible injuries.
The Daily Mail reported on Friday (Saturday NZ time) that, according to a police report, the incident happened after Lucas Glover told his wife to stop arguing and put the children to bed after she had been drinking all day and yelling in front of the children.
After she returned, she “began a physical altercation with him causing a laceration to his arm,” according to the report. Hershey Glover was also injured after intervening.
Police were called and Krista Glover was arrested, spending a night in jail before being released on bail on a $US2500 bond.
The Daily Mail said the incident report claimed she allegedly resisted the deputies by trying to “tense her body and blocking herself from sitting down in the car”.
The English newspaper said Glover’s lawyers told a St John’s County court on Friday (Saturday NZ time) that she “has met all conditions of her agreement with Florida prosecutors, including completing 25 hours of community service”.
A few days after the May incident, Lucas Glover released a statement, showing solidarity with his wife. He said: “On May 12, my wife and mother were involved in an argument to which the police were called. Everyone is fine. Regrettably, although Krista was charged, we are comfortable that the judicial system is able to address what actually happened and Krista will be cleared in this private matter. We thank you for respecting our privacy as we work through this unfortunate situation.”
