UND shot one free throw to SDSU’s 20.
“That’s a shocking stat,” Jones said.
But even Jones couldn’t have known how shocking that really was in the history of UND basketball.
UND has complete game-by-game records dating back to the 1964-65 season. The Hawks’ one free throw attempt — a miss by UND freshman Filip Rebraca — is the fewest number of free throws attempted in any game in UND’s fully documented history, according to research by UND’s sports information department.
SDSU post Mike Daum, who finished with an incredible 34 points and 21 rebounds, played all 40 minutes and wasn’t called for a foul.
“Daum had no fouls and that’s another shocking stat,” Jones said. “We try to attack the rim and play through the post … we have to learn from that.”
