Play Call of Duty: Blackout free for a whole week, starting today

“Free Blackout” sounds like the free gift with every bottle of vodka.

Call of Duty: Blackout, Call of Duty’s first battle royale mode, is fast, slick, and pretty accessible. It’s everything that PUBG isn’t, in that regard, but also, it’s still a game about shooting each other (which you could argue Fortnite kind of isn’t at this stage).

We quite like it. Blackout is probably not going to be around for nearly as long as PUBG or Fortnite, so don’t get too attached to it as a competitive scene, but for a first stab at it? Activision has done better than most other attempts at jumping on the battle royale bandwagon (hello, Radical Heights).

Another really neat feature of Blackout is that you can play split-screen – the first battle royale game of its type, we think – so unlike its peers, you can play duos without needing to buy multiple copies of the game.

If you’re not convinced, perhaps an opportunity to try Blackout free will help? Well then you’re in luck: Call of Duty: Blackout is free to play, on all platforms, for the next seven days.

The Call of Duty: Blackout free trial is already open – sorry, we’ve had a busy day – and will run through until January 24th, 2019.
