Eau Claire (WQOW)- An Eau Claire business owner is accused of child sexual assault and child abduction.

Todd Paulus, 39, owns T4 Dance Company.

According to the criminal complaint, Paulus is accused of touching a child under the age of 16 inappropriately, and forcing her to touch him.

Eau Claire Police Officer Bridget Coit said he’s also charged with abduction because the victim met him away from her home without her parents’ knowledge and she stayed the night there.

He faces up to 80 years in prison, if convicted.

He’ll be back in court February 27.

Coit said recently more people are reporting sexual assaults to police.

“I think that’s from some of the work that we’ve done here locally,” Coit said. “Not just the police department but as an entire community to encourage victims to come forward and also feel comfortable talking about it.”

Coit wants the community to know if you report an assault, it will get investigated thoroughly, and they can help find resources to support you.
