Two men accused of stabbing UAE cabbie arrested

A financial dispute was the motivation of two Iranian men to stab a taxi driver to death, police said. Colonel Ibrahim Al Ajil, deputy director of Criminal Investigation Department at Sharjah Police, said that the man’s body was discovered by his brother in the boot of the car in Sharjah’s Industrial Area 7. Police patrols, CID officers and forensic experts went to the crime scene and found the taxi driver’s body lying in a pool of blood inside the car’s boot. Colonel Al Ajil said: “The deceased brother found the body and called us. We launched an investigation and within 16 hours the two Iranian suspects were arrested.” The two suspects were arrested in a flat at Ajman and confessed to the murder. “They claimed that a financial dispute happened between them and the driver and a fight started when the two stabbed him several times. They dragged his body to the boot of the car and dumped it in an empty place after taking off the meter and the plate number of the car,” Colonel Al Ajil added. The two suspects have been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution. ali.shouk@7days.ae
